Caltex Truckstop Emerald
Project Description
This project was for less than 500m2 truckstop building with two refuelling canopies, one for trucks and one for cars. The site includes a restaurant, truck driver amenities including showers and laundry, office, shop and parking for 28 B-double trucks. A very compact but workable design evolved. Infrastructure associated with the project included external roadworks, water and sewer mains. The site was opened in February 2005 and is located on the Capricorn Highway at Emerald.
Timing
Construction was completed over a 4 month period.
Value
Total project value is approximately $4 million.
TfA Contribution
TfA project managed and designed the complete project from initial layouts and approvals. This included regular site inspections, co-ordination of all regulatory body approvals and commissioning.
Challenges
The remote location and very tight budget constraints in a period of unprecedented building cost increases.
