Castrol Bulk Fuel Additive Facility
Project Description
Historically the Castrol Whinstanes terminal handled viscosity improver additive, a highly viscous difficult to pump product, by drum. The project involved the relocation of a 140kL tank from Melbourne to Brisbane. The insulated and heat traced piping system was designed so that a single pump performed tanker unloading and blending to multiple blend tanks. In line metering and automated valves were installed to facilitate automatic operation integrated into the onsite blending control system.
Timing
The project was completed on schedule.
TfA Contribution
TfA fully project managed the project, performed mechanical and civil detailed design, construction site supervision, commissioning, training, procedures and documentation.
Challenges
Completed amidst an operating terminal without any disruption to production.
