Primary Energy Kwinana Bio-Refinery Project
Project Overview
The Primary Energy Bio-Refinery project is situated in the Kwinana industrial area, south of Fremantle in Western Australia. The facility will use Western Australian wheat to produce up to 160 million litres of fuel grade ethanol per year to be used in ethanol fuel blends.
The bio-refinery has been designed to be sustainable socially, environmentally and economically. The site location, to the north of the CBH grain terminal, was chosen because of its closeness to sources of input materials and destinations for final products. For example, CBH grain will be transported by conveyor to the bio-refinery, fertiliser ingredients will be trucked from the nearby bulk cargo jetty, ethanol will be trucked to fuel blending facilities at Kwinana and Fremantle.
TfA Involvement
TfA Project Group as Engineers and Project Managers worked directly with Primary Energy and technology providers to ensure whole project integration. Preliminary design covered by the TfA team include civil works including roads and bulk earthworks, structural including buildings, ethanol tank farm, fire fighting, utilities and services. TfA were instrumental in this project receiving Development Permit Approvals.
