A great opportunity exists for an experienced Electrical Designer with a minimum 5 years’ relevant experience to join our expert project delivery team. This is a permanent position, available immediately and will see you working with a group of enthusiastic and capable professionals.  TfA has offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney & Perth, this position is available in our head office located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

This role predominately focuses on the design and drafting of electrical, instrumentation and control systems for a variety of renewable energy developments, fuels, aviation, bitumen and lubricant storage facilities, and other general retail and industrial projects such as multi-retail centres, industrial subdivisions, and logistics/warehousing.

Skills & Experience (essential):

  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Be proficient in design and drafting or electrical, instrumentation and control systems including document and quality control
  • Have advanced skills in Autodesk AutoCAD (recent versions up to and including 2021)
  • Be competent in the preparation of maximum demand calculations, cable sizing calculations, cable schedules, equipment and instrumentation specifications and datasheets under the supervision of a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer 
  • Have the ability to interpret and/or contribute to the preparation of P&ID’s, Design Basis and Functional Descriptions
  • Have experience developing projects from concept design through to construction packages
  • Have experience as an integral part of multi-discipline teams in the delivery of projects on time, on cost and meeting quality requirements.
  • Have the ability to effectively and efficiently liaise with internal multi-discipline engineering and design teams to ensure integrated multi-discipline designs 
  • Have the ability to multi-task and deliver multiple projects concurrently 
  • Be able to work autonomously and be highly productive
  • Have excellent communication skills in English and a high level of technical writing ability 

Skills & Experience (ideal but not essential):

  • Have previously liaised with power and telecommunication authorities, suppliers and contractors design consultancies and/or experience with bulk fuels storage and distribution or process plants will be highly regarded.
  • Have formal electrical trade or engineering qualifications
  • Have prior engineering and design consultancy and/or direct client liaison experience 
  • Have experience 3D modelling electrical infrastructure with Autodesk Plant 3D 
  • Be competent in the preparation of project specifications and documentation for electrical and instrumentation works under the supervision of a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer
  • Have prior exposure to control systems and automation, including PLC’s, DCS and SCADA systems
  • Have prior exposure to Hazardous Areas and Dangerous Goods
  • Have prior exposure to light spill analyses and lighting design
  • Specific experience in electrical design for fuel retail / refuelling facilities
  • Specific experience in building / fit-out electrical design 
  • Have experience conducting site inspections and audits and the preparation of reports
