We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Chemical / Process Engineer to join our team at our head office in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane to support biofuels, hydrogen, petroleum and dangerous goods projects across a broad range of industries.

TfA Project Group is a highly experienced engineering services company providing solutions for the oil industry and renewable energy sectors with offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We provide a complete range of project management, planning, engineering design and construction management capabilities. TfA have more experience in the implementation of biofuels projects than any other consultant in Australia.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing projects to deliver projects on time and within budget. Coordination with other engineering discipline leads to ensure timely and complete project design documentation.
  • Process engineering planning & scheduling, preparation of progress reports, resource forecasts, time schedules of engineers, utilization of resources effectively & efficiently.
  • Fee proposal development. Review of tender documents, specifications, datasheets, calculations for project scoping and implementation.
  • Biofuels / hydrogen reports, Lead process engineer for Biorefinery projects and feasibility studies, FEED, project budget estimates.
  • Supervision of three junior / graduate / student process engineers (total 3).
  • Performing or checking mass and heat balances, heating and heat loss calculations, hydraulic modelling, pump, control valve, vessel and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Preparation and review of user specifications, technical specifications,  scope of work documents, PFD’s, P&ID’s, datasheets, equipment specifications, cause & effect diagrams, control philosophies, shutdown philosophies, HAZOP Studies & reports, operation & maintenance manuals etc.
  • Preparation of RFQ’s, clarifications, Techno-commercial bid evaluation etc.
  • Dangerous goods auditing, technical compliance reports and facility design.
  • Attendance at design reviews and HAZOP’s.
  • Liaison and negotiation with clients, suppliers and sub-consultants as required.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree qualification in chemical / process engineering (recognised by Engineers Australia)
  • Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Australia and RPEQ accredited or have suitable experience for achieving accreditation within 12 months
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience
  • Experience with biofuels, hydrogen, dangerous goods or hazardous areas will be highly regarded
  • Experience in applicable technical calculations, design and equipment selection
  • Experience in the application of recognised Australian industry standards and statutory regulations
  • A systematic and analytical approach and have a high regard for accuracy
  • HAZOP facilitator qualifications and experience will be highly regarded
  • Flexibility to travel nationally for project site inspections (duration typically a couple of days)
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills (oral and written)

Salary & Conditions

Your salary will be negotiated depending on your experience.
